In Ohio, child support can be awarded in either Domestic Relations Court or Juvenile Court or through the Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA). The non-custodial parent is responsible for contributing a certain potion of their income, based on the state child support guidelines. The amount of child support paid is determined by a number of factors in the guidelines, including:

  • Incomes of both parties
  • Child care costs
  • Health insurance costs
  • Visitation costs
  • Parenting schedules

In most cases, child support is paid until the child concerned turns 18 unless the child is still in high school, in which case child support terminates at age 19. Children with certain disabilities may receive child support past their 19th birthday.
